1 Print:14 Days Challenge

Store Update/Edit: I goofed and forgot to edit the stock level variants so it appeared they were sold out. :(  But don't be sad! I definitely have more so they're back in stock and available! Sorry about that!

After Craft Lake City I decided to get serious about my work and portfolio.
By the time I graduate I want to have a growing career in freelance illustration/printmaking.
So by the end of summer next year I wanted to have 30 new prints added to my portfolio.
To achieve this I decided to give myself a challenge to print a new screen print every two weeks.
Here's number 1 out of 30:
Tea Quail!

While printing this cutie bird there were so many times I wanted to just throw in the towel and take the easy route:
going back down to Salt Lake another day this week just to print.
Never mind wasting the gas we're taking the easy and lazy route!

But I chose to just DWI.
Deal With It.

Didn't bring a coloured version of the image: Mixed colours by memory and it turned out perfect.

Barely enough screen wash to clean the squeegee let alone the screen itself: Reclaimed the entire screen instead.

Really really tight traps: Spent about 20 minutes on registration and got it to turn out right.

Giant wasp trying to attack me inside the garage while burning a screen: Defeated the evil foe.

Honestly though, I'm a pretty lazy cat. I'd prefer to just lay around and watch Pretty Little Liars and not do any work. I also like to just give up when I get bored or things aren't so easy and call it quits for the day.
But I'm really proud that despite all of the obstacles yesterday I climbed right over them, just DWI and got that quail printed.
It's been added to the store so grab one of your own limited edition birds today.

Foo Dog Print WIP + Store Update!

Here's a WIP shot of the six-legged Foo Dog print. I'm hoping to have him done by the end of next week. He's scheduled to be printed in October for my 1 print for every 2 weeks challenge.
Illustrator and I have always been mortal enemies. I have always used Photoshop to design my prints because I knew it. We were comfortable together. I knew that Photoshop could get the job done.
But now, with the help of the wizard boyfriend Illustrator and I have finally been able to join forces to make awesome work.
Hello Illustrator, my name is Shirley. How are you? I like your blob brush tool.

Store update: Journals have now been added! Check them out here: morningmagpie.storenvy.com

2013 Craft Lake City

This was my 3rd year being at Craft Lake City and was my most successful year.
Thank you to everyone who came out and checked out the booth! You have all helped me in living the dream.
The online shop is now open so if you missed the chance to purchase something you had your eye on now's your chance.
Journals and colouring books will be in the store by the end of the week.
There were a lot of awesome vendors this year and probably my favourite was Laura Frisk and her woodblock prints.
I got a pretty adorable pink lemonade woodcut bear pillow from her. She makes pretty adorable pillows so please check out the rest of her shop!
Thanks again!
