It's because I've been busy working!
I recently was commissioned to make and print a gig poster for Andrew Bird's upcoming show in Chico, California on November 19th.
Here's the final printed piece!
It was stressful at times but big thanks to Vince and boss man Travis for helping me out. Without their help this would have been a disaster. There are 100 in this edition and will be available in my store soon!
This was a helpful learning experience and I'm so glad I was able to finally get my own print job. I hope I can continue doing this, because I've gotten a taste of living the dream.
I decided to try and document the process. :)
1. I start out with an idea and try sketching it out. And then I take a picture of it with my webcam (I'm too lazy to scan it). My original concept had to do with the moon and sun bear species. But then it morphed into this idea of a puppet theatre stage.
2. I then take it into illustrator and begin colouring my image. During this process the image transformed from a puppet theatre scene into a bear interacting with bees (thank you Mitch for the idea!) I really struggled with how to arrange The Handsome Family, but after approaching the problem with a different perspective I finally fixed the issue and ended up with this final product.
3. After making transparencies I then burned the image onto the screens. And then the screens are ready to go for printing:

I'm trying to come up with more ideas for my printmaking final portfolio and my print challenge (I need to get back on track with it!) I've been watching DeathNote lately and I've got a pretty neat print I'm working on inspired by it. :)
